Class Description

The Alternative & Advanced Search Engine Intelligence (AASEI) course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of search engines and algorithms, and how they can be used for intelligence operations. The course goes beyond Google, Yandex, and Bing, and exposes students to a variety of specialized and regional search engines. Students will learn techniques to alter and improve their search engine results, and gain a better understanding of how to effectively search abroad.

Throughout the course, you'll learn about a range of techniques for manipulating search results, including:

•       Understanding the algorithms behind search engines

•       Exploring non-Google search engines

·      Regional search engines

·      Specialized search engines

•       Techniques for more effective searching abroad

•       Considerations for choosing and using each search engine

•       Advanced operators for conducting searches for intelligence operations

Prerequisites

This is an advanced course that assumes some knowledge, comprehension, and experience with Intelligence or OSINT. No accounts are explicitly needed, although having social media accounts (they do not have to be your real account nor do they need to be fake [Sock] accounts) to follow along with will not hurt. Students having taken another course from The OSINTion are more likely to benefit from the material in this course. First-time students seeking initial foundational instruction about Intelligence are advised to take The OSINTion's Accelerated Introduction to Intelligence course first.
